Pool Progress

Today was the day to prep the pool deck.  We are getting so excited!  The yard is looking a little better and it is looking more like a pool now.

Memeorial Day

We spent Memorial Day in Island Park at the cabin.  It was a fun relaxing weekend with rain on and off each day.   We had a few minutes each day where the rain would stop long enough for the kids to go outside and fish for a little bit.  Jon was able to catch a pretty good size fish.  He brought it home and let the kids watch him clean it and cook it for breakfast the next morning.

We stopped in Idaho Falls on our way home and went  to the cemetary.

End of School Year Activities

Mallory was able to attend the breakfast of champions before school today.  It is for all students who had a 4.0 for 2 or more of the trimesters.  We are sure proud of her and the hard work and dedication she puts forth in school.  She got a 4.0 this year.  She is now graduating from Cedar Ridge Middle school and moving to North Cache for 8th Grade next year.

Jack had a 1st grade program that they sang all the songs they had learned all year.  It has been a great year for Jack.  He has learned a lot and has loved his teacher.  She is part of our family after teaching 3 of our kids.  We love her!  I was able to work in Jack's class each Thursday morning and help with reading.  It was so fun to get to know each of the kids and watch them progress thru the year.

Mrs. Mangum our favorite 1st grade teacher!

Caleb's 4th grade Utah program.  He sang songs and he also had a speaking part that he had to dress up as a skier.

Drive-in movie day.  Jack had to make a cardboard box car to sit in to watch a movie at school.  (I don't think he helped with the car! Jon did a great job late the night before he needed it.)

We had our final piano recital in May.  Caleb and Mallory both did a great job on their songs! (I heard they did well from Heidi.  We were out of town for the recital)

Progress of Pool

The next step in the type of pool we are having is to build the walls.  They build them out of cement blocks.  It didn't take them long this day to get the walls all up. They put a piece of rebar in each of the blocks  Then they bring a cement truck in and pour cement down the top of the blocks.  That has to sit for about a week and then they come back.

Happy 10th Birthday Caleb

Caleb turned 10 years old today!  He is getting to be too big!  I think that in a few more months he is going to be taller than his mother.   He was so excited for his birthday and could hardly wait to open his presents after school.

One of his presents he had to go on a scavenger hunt.   Mallory did a great job sending him all over the backyard for his gift.

He finally found his ripstick that was hid in the backyard!
For dinner he chose to go to Kabuki.  It is a hibachi restaurant in town that the kids love.  We only take the whole family on special occasions!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CALEB!  WE LOVE YOU!

!st Day of Building a Pool

Today was the day they came to dig our hole for our pool.  We had mixed emotions about it.  Very excited to have it but very sad to see our grass & backyard torn up.  They sure know how to make a mess and dig everything up fast!!!  Then they leave you with a big mess to try and fix!

They dug the hole and then left.  Jon then had to go and figure out how to connect all the sprinkler lines that they had cut.  At this point we are wondering if we have made a mixtake!  I think that it will be worth it and fun when the construction part is over.  I spent the whole day just sitting on the deck watching them dig the hole.

Roatan

For the last three days of our trip we flew to the island of Roatan.  We stayed in a beautiful resort right on the ocean  It was a great way to relax after an amazing time in Guatemala.  We had a lot of fun sitting by the pool, snorkeling, walking on the beach and exploring.  Jon was able to go and do a dive one afternoon while Brianna and I sat by the pool.  One morning we got up early and went to a zipline.

Our group was large enough that we flew from Guatemala to Roatan on a chartered plane.  It was kind of fun to be able to walk off the plane right next to the ocean.
View from our room

We took a water taxi one night over to the other side of the island to eat dinner.  It was quite an adventure not knowing anything about any of the restaurants.

We were the only ones at this restaurant we chose to eat at.  We were a little worried but the food was great.

Getting all the instructions for the zipline.  It was so hot and humid we thought we were going to die!  We couldn't wait to get back to the resort to jump into the pool.

Sunday was our last day at the resort.  We had a sacrament meeting to bear testimonies and then we loaded the buses and headed to the airport.  We were sad to see our trip come to an end.  We had an amazing time and got to know a lot of great people.  Our lives will forever be changed from our trip and the service that we able to do.  We will think of the people we served often and wonder what paths their lives have taken.  It was such a neat experience to be able to be there with Brianna and see her testimony grow and the effect this trip had on her.

Guatemala Day #8

Today we packed up and left our hotel in Guatemala.  We drove for about an hour to the town of Antigua.  We spent some time at an outdoor market doing some shopping, had lunch at a local restaurant and then headed to the airport.  We flew to Roatan, Honduras.  We are going to be spending a few days here relaxing at a resort.
